It was confirmed last night that Bury FC, founded in 1885, had been expelled from the English Football League (EPL) after failure to meet their 5pm deadline to provide evidence they could meet their financial requirements. The hope was that a takeover would have saved the club but once this fell through the EPL withdrew Bury from the league, "with enormous regret".
