V Sign To Economists

There was a veritable scrap on the Monetary Policy Committee yesterday (20 July) between the Bank of England's chief economist, Andy Haldane, and his fellow committee member, Silvana Tenreyro. There are nine members of the Committee, including Andrew Bailey, and Billy tells us that 'inside track has it' that 'The Guv'nor' had to stand in the middle of the two of his colleagues in the halls of 'The Old Lady' on Threadneedle Street, when Ms Tenreyro took off a six-inch heel and threatened to ... "crown Haldane with it". Mind you, Billy has been acting oddly ever since his brother-in-law brought him back some mushrooms plucked from a rotting grass bank in Somerset after a shower at the weekend.
